Pass Plus was created by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) along with assistance from Insurance Companies and the driving instruction industry. Pass Plus is a set of additional driving modules to help new drivers gain further experience after passing their Practical Driving Test and to help gain further vital experience to become a safer and more competent driver. It has been proven by Statistics that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years of passing their test, this is why Pass Plus was created.
The 6 Modules include:
1. Town Driving
2. Dual Carriageway Driving
3. Motorway Driving
4. All Weather Driving
5. Driving at Night
6. Rural Road Driving
The Pass Plus course consists of the above 6 modules, each module must last at least 1 hour. A form will be completed by both the pupil and the Driving Instructor and issued to the DVLA upon satisfactory completion of all the 6 modules.
The DVLA will register the pupils details and issue a Certificate to be presented to Insurance Companies to confirm that the pupil has successfully competed the course. This can result in a more competitive insurance premium being offered, in some cases up to 50% cheaper for new drivers!
For more information please visit the Pass Plus website for a list of participating insurance companies.
The cost of a Pass Plus Course and additional lessons can be found on the ‘Lessons Page’ of the website.
